Empowered Youth, Mentoring and Entrepreneurs

Empowered Youth is an organization aiming to support youth who are involved or at risk of becoming involved with the juvenile justice system. The program provides support, life skills programing, and job opportunities for participants through a two-phase model. In the first phase, Empowered Youth Neighborhood, youth are connected with mentors and tutors who support them in a number of areas, including providing life skills courses, referring to community agencies for counseling, accompanying youth to court dates and school meetings, and connecting youth with community resources. In the second phase, Empowered Youth Entrepreneurs, youth are provided hands-on job and academic training by working with the University of Miami School of Business Communications to develop and run their own business models within their local communities.
